Beauty Christmas Gifts 2016
This year Christmas came early and I gifted myself with some beauty goodies from Sephora's VIB sale. I went in super confident with the determination to purchase only what I needed, but of course that never happens once you walk into the store or hit that refresh button online. All restraints went out the window! I only needed concealer and a powder, but I ended up with a cart full of beautiful. shiny. pretty. captivating. glorious..... like a bug drawn to the light. Anyway, if you're looking for a Christmas gift for a beauty lover check out what I got for some inspiration!
This set contains:
-0.8 oz/ 25 mL Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil
- 0.35 oz/ 10 g Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder
- 0.34 oz/ 10 mL Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream
- 0.4 oz/ 12 mL Luminous Dewy Skin Mist
Thank you Tatcha for coming out with something like this! These items are not cheap on their own so this is the best opportunity to try out their most popular products for a reasonable price. I've tried and loved their Rice Enzyme Powder so I wanted to explore more of their line, but never did because the price was too steep. I'm most excited to try the skin mist as it's getting drier with the cold weather!! :)
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Palette Color Wheel $44 (This blush palette is currently sold out on Sephora's website and Tarte's website)
If you can get your hands on it, it will definitely be worth your while! This palette gives you 10 shades to choose from! 10!!! From bright pops of coral and pinks to neutral mauves, you won't need to buy another blush for a lonnnngggg time.
Aren't they beautiful? You'll see the shades cover a variety of tones. Of the 10 shades, 2 are highlighters- one gold toned and the other more pearlescent. As a blush lover, this one had me on cloud 9 for days. :)
This set contains:
- 0.27 oz/ 8 mL B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel - 0.27 oz/ 8 mL C-Firma Day Serum - 1 oz/ 30 mL T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum
I did my homework for this set! Of all the sets that Sephora offered for Drunk Elephant, this one had the best value. The full size version of the night serum already costs $90 so for only $6 extra you get to try the day serum and hydration gel. All the other sets offered would have you spend more if you calculated the price of each item. For the skin care lover, this set will be sure to delight. Is your skin feeling a bit congested? Getting some fine lines? Feeling dry? Or maybe you're skin just feels so dull and like it needs a pick me up? This is it! I normally use BHAs as an exfoliant, but I learned this one was what I actually needed! My skin has been getting drier as I've gotten older so it's time to turn to AHAs. I use this before bed and wake up to glowy skin! Like I had the perfect sleep, diet, exercise, etc. Ooo la la :)
I know! $80 for this palette that has only 5 pans when I showed you a 10 shaded blush palette for nearly half the price. There is an explanation for this! This is a luxurious gift from Hourglass that will please every marble loving, makeup loving soul. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after testing out the different shades, I have concluded this was worth it. For sure this palette is not for everyone because some of the colors only show up on lighter skin tones, but for those who can wear these colors you will be so happy with how it looks! If you want to spoil or be spoiled, this one is a winner!
Skin Inc. Glow On Kit $90 (This set is currently sold out on Sephora)
I discovered Skin Inc. from a sample of their Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask. I loved the sample so much I was ready to buy the full size version. This value set comes with their peel, 3 serums (normally $45/each), and the mask that I love so much. In my shopping cart you go! This one is excellent for anyone looking to up their skincare game!
Now concealer is one of the things I actually needed to purchase. After much research I decided to try Kat Von D because of the color range. I’ve tried Make Up Forever, Urban Decay, Nars, MAC, and some drugstore brands, but none had a color/tone that matched me. I’ve been using this for a few weeks now and am happy with the results so definitely give this one a go!
I love the formula that Laura Mercier has for this Smooth Finish Foundation Powder! This powder is so buttery, soft, and applies like velvet. It really is the perfect powder foundation for your no makeup makeup look. I’ve tried quite a few powder foundations and so far only Dior makes a super silky formula like this, but the color range is not as good.
I am happy to say that this product was not chosen by me. One night my husband took the sample version of this lip serum and asked if he could try it. I have never seen him love a beauty product as much as this. This is every man’s ideal lip moisturizer. I’d call it lip balm, but it comes in a pump bottle. This moisturizes without any shine or stickiness! It feels like nothing at all! The price is steep for what it is, but I have not seen anything that is similar. I love using this underneath my liquid/matte lipsticks because you get to keep the matte look while having smooth lips.
Of all the years I’ve shopped the VIB sales I have never purchased a holiday themed gift set. I have also never purchased or tried any eyeshadows from Too Faced. This year I decided I needed to take the plunge and get on the Too Faced Holiday Collection bandwagon. This set is beautiful! Of everything I bought, I would have been happiest to receive this as a Christmas gift. The design and packaging of this set is so festive and beautiful that it just puts you in a happy mood! It is a reminder that it’s the holidays and a time of joy. I love Christmas so this one truly makes me the happiest! There are lots of reviewers complaining about this set in regards to pigmentation issues, but I haven’t encountered any problems. You can complete your whole face with this set! The best part is how good everything looks when worn together. The colors complement each other so well and makes it easy to put together a beautiful look. This one tops my list for gift recommendations!
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Trouble Maker - Holiday Kiss Collection $17 (This lipstick is currently sold out at Sephora)
There’s something about the cold weather and the holiday season that makes me want to wear a dark, vampy lip. I’ll admit this lipstick was a total impulse buy. I couldn’t help myself when I saw the color and it just made it’s way into my cart. For all you lipstick lovers, this one is for you.
A good foundation is hard to pass up and so I ended up purchasing this water based one from Make Up Forever. This is the best option if you want skin that looks real, fresh, hydrated, and glowy. It's light and so comfortable to wear that you'll forget you're even wearing makeup. With all the amazing pros of this foundation, the only con is that it's not full coverage. That's what concealer is for, right? :)
Highlighters!!! Who doesn't want that glow from within? This duo comes in the shade Champagne and Rose. I have never encountered such natural looking highlighters. They are super blendable and provide just the right amount of glow so that you look fresh and radiant. I thought Becca had the most beautiful highlighters, but this one kicked that out of the door. Just buy this one already. It's only $22. Go! Right now! :)
Sephora Collection Luxe False Lash $17 (This is currently sold out at Sephora): Plume
Velour Silk Lashes$23: Whispie Business
These lashes were another impulse buy, but a very good impulse buy. If you want a very subtle va va voom effect for your lashes then these babies will do the job. I love to wear false eyelashes, but the ones I own are more dramatic so I save them for special occasions. These were much needed in my collection! The Sephora lashes in Plume are considerably more subtle than Velour's Whispie Business. Natural makeup peeps, these lashes will be your best friend. :)
That is a wrap to my list! I hope you all enjoyed my recommendations and found it useful! Tis the season to shop shop shop and Happy Holidays everyone. <3
