Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette Review
Too Faced's White Chocolate Chip Palette has arrived!!! I was eagerly awaiting the Matte Chocolate Chip and White Chocolate Chip in the weeks leading up to Black Friday/Cyber Monday. After seeing photos of the Matte Chocolate Chip I decided to hold out for the white version and I'm glad I did! The White Chocolate Chip Palette's launch is exclusive to Sephora and sells for $26.
Too Faced's White Chocolate Chip Palette "features 11 antioxidant-rich, cocoa powder-infused shades with a signature chocolate scent. With a confection of pastels, creamy nudes, and a pop of black, these high-pigment eyeshadows offer true color payoff and a silky smooth finish."
My first impression was that the palette was fun size! As you can see it's only a bit bigger than a business card, but that also makes it very travel friendly! I was also surprised by how much lighter the shades were since the leaked photos looked like there were warm tones. As these are cool toned nudes and pastels, I can see snow bunny or fresh spring looks with this palette. Check out swatches in the photos below. I am in love with the mattes as their color payoff was better! The shimmers were on the dusty, dry side and did not adhere well to the skin. A tackier base or maybe some fix plus would help get the full effect of the shimmer shadows. Overall, these are not the smoothest, buttery shadows, but they are good enough. As for the scent, I don't think it really smells like chocolate, but just something sweet.
If you read my previous post about beauty Christmas gifts (read me!) you'll see that I just got Too Faced's Christmas Shop Palette. I was not aware that there would be repeat colors until after placing my order. So, I did what any makeup lover would do...."they have to be different!" I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. I did some comparison swatches between the White Chocolate Chip and the Christmas Shop palettes in the photos below. I had to take the photos in a different setting and lighting so that's why they look different, but you'll still be able to see the comparison. You'll also see the how the shades look under LED lights.
Note: The shades that are not labeled are the same shades found in the Christmas Shop Palette.
7 of the 11 shades in the White Chocolate Chip Palette are also found in The Christmas Shop Palette- Glaze, Cake Batter, Raspberry, Cookie Dough, Indulge, Sugared Raisin, Guilt-Free. 2 of the shades, Indulge and Sugared Raisin, are the exact same.
This is how the White Chocolate Chip Palette differs:
- Glaze appears a bit whiter
- Cake Batter is brighter and looks more peach
- Raspberry Rose has a golden shimmer
- Cookie Dough is a darker brown
- Guilt Free is a hint darker
The White Chocolate Chip Palette is currently sold out, but will be back in stock soon. If you're like me and purchased the mac daddy Chocolate Shop Palette you definitely do not need this mini version. I've read here and there that these mini versions don't compare to the original full size palettes in terms of quality. I wish I could make that comparison for you, but I don't own those ones yet. :) On its own, the White Chocolate Chip Palette would make a great gift or stocking stuffer this Christmas. It's also definitely fun to have and collect if you love makeup!
