New Beauty for a New Year
Happy New Year everyone! What better way to kick off the New Year than with some new beauty products! I bought several items and wanted to provide a mini review for each! Read on for short and sweet reviews on the Morphe Copper Spice Palette, Su:m37 Secret Essence Advanced Sync Program, Skin Inc Deep Sea Hydrating Mask, Neogen Sunscreen, and a few Zoeva brushes from the Rose Golden line. Morphe Spiced Copper Palette
I was checking emails in bed shortly after waking up and saw an email from Morphe about their new releases featuring two new palettes. I clicked on the link and the next thing I know I’m fumbling for my credit card reserved for in-bed shopping. That was a good day. :)
For only $17.99 you get 25 amazing shades of warm matte, shimmer, and metallic browns! Each shadow is rich in color, smooth, and perfect. I swatched all the colors and you can see how beautiful each one is in the photos below. The shimmer shades in this palette are equally amazing! I was expecting some to be dry and flaky, but they went on like butter! One swipe and you get the richest color payoff. I don’t think I need to say more. This is currently sold out on the Morphe website, but if you can get your hands on this palette, definitely pick it up and you will not regret it.
Su:m 37 Secret Essence Advanced Sync Program
If you’re a K-beauty fan or are familiar with Korean skin care then you probably know about Su:m 37 or it’s very popular Su:m 37 Secret Essence Advanced Sync Program (used to be called Su:m 37 Secret Programming Essence).
Of all the essences I have tried (SK-II, Missha, and Innisfree), this one by Su:m 37 has been the most moisturizing, refreshing, and revitalizing. It’s not as runny as SK-II or Missha essences, but not as viscous as the ones by Innisfree. It’s an ideal texture that absorbs quickly into the skin and actually leaves you feeling lightly moisturized. Essences are supposed to help with the absorption of the rest of your skin care products, but I’ve never noticed a difference until now. After using it two days in a row the blackheads on my nose were pretty much nonexistent! This is an excellent essence and I highly recommend it.
Skin Inc Deep Sea Hydrating Mask
If you read my Beauty Christmas Gifts 2016 post then you’ll know I picked up a Skin Inc set that had the Hydrating Deep Sea Mask that I love. Since I had a discount for Sephora I decided to get the full size version of this mask. I use this as my moisturizer after I shower and leave it overnight to soak in. In the morning I wake up to the most beautiful glow and skin as soft as a baby’s butt. No joke, even my husband noticed the difference. My skin never looked so good! This mask is quite pricey ($75 for 1.7oz) so I would advise getting a sample before committing to the full size.
NEOGEN Day-Light Protection Sun Screen
The most important skin care product is sunscreen. It’s the one product I use daily, rain or shine. After much experimentation, I’ve come to favor Asian sunscreens vs Western for effectiveness and comfort. Clinique, Paula’s Choice, Neutrogena, and La Roche Posay would either leave a white cast, oiliness, or sunspots. Gross. Missha and Shiseido have been excellent choices that have worked well and now I can add Neogen to the bucket!
Neogen’s sunscreen offers SPF 50 PA +++ protection and is moisturizing enough to work well as a primer under powder makeup. I have not noticed any issues with white cast, oiliness, or others discomforts. It is lightweight and absorbs quickly! I prefer this sunscreen during the winter months as its moisturizing properties help combat dryness. If you want to wear sunscreen, but hate the smell and feel of it, you should give this a try.
322 BROW LINE Rose Golden Vol. 2
Zoeva’s brow brush didn’t work out as well as I had hoped. It’s quite wide so I can only use it in a horizontal position, which makes it harder to fill in the front of my brow. The brush itself has enough hairs so that it picks up plenty of product. I’ve only tried this brush with brow powders. Perhaps it takes a few more tries to get used to the different size, but I still think this brush would definitely work better for someone with fuller brows.
114 LUXE FACE FOCUS Rose Golden Vol. 2
The luxe face focus brush works as expected. I wasn’t wow’ed or disappointed with it. I used this brush to apply highlighter and was satisfied with the application. This brush is not as soft as I thought it would be so be sure to knock off any excess product prior to application.
106 POWDER Rose Golden Vol. 2
The 106 powder brush is very soft and is great for blending or applying a setting powder. You could use it for a powder foundation, but it applies very sheer regardless of the coverage level of your foundation.
231 LUXE PETIT CREASE Rose Golden Vol. 2
The luxe petit crease brush is my favorite of the 4 brushes I ordered. It’s just the right size to fit the crease of my eye so it blends like a dream! If you have a smaller eye crease then you must get this brush. Before using this, I always figured it was all about technique and not the tools. Clearly I was wrong! Having the right size brush makes or breaks a look. I normally use three different shades for a complete eye look, but it would just end up looking like the same color all over because my old brush blended everything together. Fail! With this petit brush you can see the transition for each color and the result is beautiful!
That wraps it up for now so I hope you enjoyed this post. I wish you all a wonderful year ahead and may it be filled with much happiness and joy! <3
