新年快樂! Happy Lunar New Year!

Lunar New Year fell on January 28th this year and it’s the year of the Chicken! My family and I had an early New Year’s Eve dinner where we stuffed ourselves full of hot pot and 年糕 (New Year Cake). After tearing through dinner like ravenous beasts (which is why I completely forgot to photograph) we passed out red envelopes to the young ones. I have to say once you’re married it’s not as fun because you become the giver and not the receiver. Picture a huge family that has like 25 kids, + elders. Anyway, I want to carry on Chinese tradition so we went to my parents’ house to拜年 (bai nian) with a bag of fruit and red envelopes in tow. At the end of the day New Years is all about spending time with family and loved ones. <3

The Chicken is supposed to be good luck to almost all of the other Zodiacs this year. I am a Tiger and my husband is an Ox. As we are supposed to have better luck this year than previous years, I really hope we can be successful! Of course all those predictions are just fun and games, but it definitely gives a boost of motivation and positivity when you hear that you’ll have good luck in the coming year. While we continue the celebrations, I wish you all a 2017 filled with good health, prosperity, success, and more! 祝大家好运!
