How To Make A Dog Cake

Happy Birthday to Chip! My little wiener turned 2 on Sunday so I wanted to him to have a special treat. If you want to make your dog child a dog cake too then here’s the recipe I adapted from allrecipes: Ingredients

Wet:

1 egg

¼ C peanut butter

¼ C olive oil or coconut oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 C unsweetened applesauce or mashed bananas

1/3 C honey (optional)

Dry:

1 C white or wheat flour

1 tsp baking soda

Directions

Mix all wet ingredients together and fold in the dry ingredients. Pour into baking pan of your choice and pop into the oven for 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees F. Cooking time will vary from oven to oven so check your cake periodically. Once it’s done baking let cool for 5-10 minutes in the pan before flipping it onto a cooling rack. If you want to frost your cake, I would recommend using yogurt or a homemade frosting that has dog friendly ingredients. I happened to have a cream cheese frosting that has only cream cheese, sugar, and a tiny bit of lemon juice.

For my dog baby’s special day we visited our local pet boutique to buy him bright red socks and they sold the cutest, fanciest dog treats so he also got a huge donut biscuit. We took him to our alma mater for a photo session and then topped it all off with cake! I’m sure he would’ve preferred a chilled day at home with a car ride around town and a steak, but we’ll save that for next year. If you want to see more photos of my little wiener you can find him on Instagram.
