Carezone Nordenau Water BB Cream Review
When bb creams first came out I remember being super excited and was hopeful that it would replace my love for tinted moisturizers. I ended up never really liking them because they felt heavy and oily on my skin. After a few years and lots of new developments, bb creams improved and I started trying them again, but still was not completely won over. A few months ago I heard about Carezone’s Nordenau Water BB Cream from Meejmuse so when I saw it on Amazon I decided to try it.
There’s really not much to go off of when you read the product description: “Contains German mineral water ‘Nordenauer water’ which provides moisture while giving less stimulation.” I just googled “nordenauer water” and it’s water that has the highest amount of antioxidants. I have no clue if those properties are still stable/effective in the cream, but it just sounds like a gentle, moisturizing bb cream.
The first thing I noticed when I tried this bb cream was how light the texture was. It has a thinner consistency than your typical bb cream and is very pigmented. The coverage is medium to full, but you may need concealer for any blemishes that have a blue/purple hue. This bb cream dries pretty fast so you have to blend quickly otherwise you’ll have a streaky face. The most exciting thing about this bb cream- it feels matte after blending, but it looks dewy. Whatttt? How do they do that?! It doesn’t feel oily and is extremely comfortable to wear! I’m actually very impressed with this bb cream, BUT here’s the one pitfall- there’s only 1 shade. And of course this 1 shade is really, really light with a neutral undertone. I took several photos for comparison and did not edit them so you can see for yourself how this bb cream works.
I tried wearing this bb cream in a few ways:
Alone: This was not the smoothest application and made me wonder if it would apply better if I had primer on.
Mixed with facial oil: This created a creamier texture and felt more emollient, and sheered it out a little. Still not my ideal method!
Mixed with foundation: Yes! This is the one! I mixed this with my Bourjouis Healthy Serum Foundation and the color was perfect, coverage was perfect, texture was perfect, and my skin looked great!
I have combination skin so I tried wearing this without a setting powder and 4 hours after application I was pretty greasy looking. If you’re combo to oily then definitely set with a powder and it will last longer. It blurs pores very well, but won’t cover textured acne scars. Overall, I think this bb cream is a great purchase. It has great coverage, gives a beautiful glow, feels super comfortable on the skin, and you can bypass the color issue by mixing it with your foundation without compromising its unique qualities.
