October 2017 Empties
It’s nearing the end of the year and I’ve been working hard to clear out and use up my stash of beauty products. This month I learned how to let things go. If I don’t like it I should just throw it out or give it away instead of leaving it in a drawer hoping it will transform into something I love. Don’t forget the concept of sunk costs! Here’s my log for the month:
Banila Clean It Zero
This has been a repeat purchase because it’s so effective yet gentle on my skin. I thought the one by Heimish would be better, but then I started to dislike the strong herbal fragrance. This tub lasted me about 2 ½ months and I think I’ll purchase it in bulk when I visit Korea.
Missha Mild Essence Sun Milk
I enjoy how light and watery this sunscreen is. It’s great for those with oiler skins as it’s not as hydrating as the previous formulation. Don’t think I’ll repurchase though simply because there are so many other formulations with PA++++ to try now.
Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum
This serum does indeed smooth and even out your skin with continued use. I noticed a difference after a week of daily use! The only thing I didn’t like was its silicon type texture. I don’t want my skincare to feel like I’m applying makeup primer!
SharaShara Berry Bomb
I was trying to use this as a body moisturizer because I didn’t like it on my face, but it was just so sticky that I gave up.
Missha Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Hydro Gel Mask
This was a nice gel mask to try that left my skin very hydrated and plump! I don’t think it was as effective as the MediHeal I.P.I LightMax Hydro Nude Gel Mask.
COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch
I don’t think I need to say much here. I’ve only tried one other brand, which I found off Amazon (Skinae), but they couldn’t compare. The COSRX patches are just so much better!
Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Silk Watery Cream
Have you ever used a gold cream? This one was really pretty to look at- it was clear with gold specks in it! There was only enough for a one-time use so I can’t say if it was really effective, but it was more hydrating than I expected!
Eve Lom Cleanser
I did not like this. This balm like cleanser felt too heavy and had oddly large particles that I assume are for exfoliating. It was like massaging chunky Vaseline on my face.
Jo Malone Body Crème – Blackberry & Bay
Oh my goodness guys this is the most luxurious cream I’ve used. It’s close to my heart as it’s the scent I used specifically for my wedding day. I don’t use it everyday since it’s so pricey, but it’s a real treat when I want to pamper myself.
Peripera Cushion Blusher- Lovely Lavender
The shade was just not usable for my daily makeup.
I didn’t like the way this shade looked my skin so out it goes!
NYX Butter Lipstick
Another shade issue and it wasn’t long lasting enough.
Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks- Copper, Rosegold, Sand Glow
These were great, but I just never got around to using them enough and they are now well past their expiration date. Darn!
This cream blusher dried out way too easily and I didn’t use it enough so into the trash it goes.
MUFE Aqua Brow
If you have extra time on your hands to fill in your brows with a cream then this is great since the pigment is so strong. However, I don’t have enough time in the mornings during the workweek for something like this so it didn’t get enough use. And it’s expired.
Pacifica Power of Love
This lipstick was very dried out!
Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip- Trap
This lip color made me look like a ghost or I lost blood. Not good!
Trust Fund Beauty
I used this liquid lipstick quite a bit, but it started to separate so sayonara!
MUFE HD Blush
This cream blush also dried out real quick, but before that it was easy to blend and very pigmented!
Pony Effect Makeup Arti-Stick Shading
I got this in the green shade in hopes to conceal my redness, but it didn't work. :(
Bellapierre Volume Lash Mascara
This is a waterproof mascara, which is supposed to hold a curl, but this one doesn't. My lashes went stick straight within seconds of applying.
Milani Illuminating Face Powder- Amber Nectar
This powder was odd. It applied fine and gave a light dusting of color to my face, but after a while my brush stopped picking up the color. I could technically scratch off the top layer, but I wasn't that in love with it to do it.
Colour Pop Super Shock Blush- Between the Sheets
I just didn't like this. The formula and color were all ok, but I never wanted to reach for it when I did my makeup.
Banana Setting Powder
I've heard a lot about banana powder so I was so psyched to get this in my IPSY bag to try, but it didn't do any oil control and my face ended up looking more yellow than I wanted.
Winky Lux Diamond Powder
This was another item I got in my IPSY bag, but the shade was way too light and I didn't like it enough to want to purchase.
Laneige BB Cushion- Medium
I never thought I would get a BB cushion that was this dark! It would work if I had a real tan going on, but I never got that dark. I know Laneige has a variety of cushions out, but this is one of the original ones that were first sold at Target. This formula isn't long lasting and transfers super easily. Oil control is pretty much non-existent.
IOPE XP BB Cushion- C23
This was the first BB cushion I bought on my honeymoon in Korea and I was so ecstatic to try it. It came with two refills and the case so it was a great deal at the time. The formula is super high coverage, and it filled in my pores and concealed my texture so my skin looked so ridiculously smooth. It has a pretty thick, heavy texture and transfers easily. Don't wear white tops with this and don't touch your face!
