NARS Liquid Blush Review

Sometimes I wonder if my love affair with blushes will ever end. NARS came out with liquid blushes so when I was in Portland it was (to no surprise) the first thing on my shopping list.

What It Is

NARS’ Liquid Blush is highly pigmented and made with monoi and tamanu oils to give a natural flush of color on the skin.  It is a lightweight formula that gives a natural finish.  It is available in 4 shades: Orgasm, Torrid, Luster, and Dolce Vita.

If you’ve ever used NARS Sheer Glow then you’ll know you had to buy the pump on the side. For some reason I expected that with this so I unscrewed the top and was disappointed that this $30 blush still had that lousy screw on top. It wasn’t until I started drafting this post that I realized I should’ve just pulled the top off! Oh Valerie.

I purchased the shade Torrid, which is a beautiful warm coral.  I have to say this blush is becoming my new favorite. It’s a thin formula similar to Benefit’s Lollitint or Cha Cha tint, but silkier and way more pigmented.  It can be worn before or after powder, but I prefer before for a more natural, diffused look.  The color is buildable so you can go from subtle flush to full on pop of color. In the photo below I used 2 layers to get the color to really show- in real life 1 layer is more than plenty.  A teeny tiny drop of this gives you the most natural blush so a little goes a long way!

I like using my stippling brush to apply this, but you can definitely use your fingers, beauty blender, or puff.  It was incredibly smooth and easy to blend with no streaks. It didn’t tug at my base makeup and looked like second skin. It’s flat out gorgeous! This blush wore very well and lasted 8+ hours through 100-degree heat, sweat, and oil.

Although I didn’t purchase the other shades, I did swatch them and can confirm that Orgasm is the most shimmery, and the remaining shades are pearlescent. I have the powder version of Orgasm and the shades are definitely the same if not extremely close.  I can’t say for the remaining colors since I don’t own their powder counterparts, but they were all gorgeous and it took lots of self-control not to get them all.

If you like blush, you have to try these! Although they’re a bit pricey at $30 for 0.5oz, it makes up for it in longevity. A little goes a long way for this one and it makes the $30 worth it!
