Is the Troiareuke Acsen A+ Cushion Worth It? | Full Review

Prescription skincare? Korea's #1 skincare? Say hello to Troiareuke! I’m always drawn to high quality skin care so when I heard about Troiareuke I was immediately intrigued. The prices are pretty steep, but after some deliberation I took the plunge and purchased the  A+ cushion and the Ascen Oil Cut Cleanser. I’ve been testing out both products for two weeks now, and now it’s time to share my experience with the A+ cushion.

What it is

Troiareuke’s A+ cushion is a bb cushion formulated for acne and sensitive combination skin. It is suitable for all skin types except those who are dry. This formula claims to be anti-wrinkle, whitening, and provides SPF50 PA+++ protection. Furthermore, it claims to offer sebum control, and heal and moisturize the skin.  It is advertised to be 99% skincare and 1% makeup. Ooo la la!

Ingredient Analysis

Nowhere on the packaging of this product listed the ingredients in this cushion. What I found on the official websites only listed the main ingredients, which include: Centella Asiatica extract, Tea Tree extract, Callendulla Flower extract, Adeosine, Niacinamide. Eh- Are they trying to hide something? I contacted KBeautyBay to see if they could provide an ingredient list for me and they responded super quick! So here it is:

Water, Titanium Dioxide, Cyclopentasiloxane ,Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Cyclohexasiloxane, C12-15 Alkyl benzoate, Niacinamide, Octocrylene, Zinc Oxide, Trimethylsiloxysilicate,PEG-30 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Iron Oxides (CI 77492),Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer,PEG-10 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride,Quaternium-18 Bentonite, Polypropylsilsesquioxane, Dimethicone, Calendula Officinalis Flower Water, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Water, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Madecassoside ,Iron Oxides (CI 77491),Iron Oxides (CI 77499),Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Chlorphenesin, Aluminum Hydroxide,1,2-Hexanediol, Adenosine, Perfume

If you are weary of ingredients in your cosmetics then note this one contains Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate.

First let’s discuss the physical attributes of the cushion. The cushion case is on the slimmer side compared to Laneige and IOPE, which is excellent for storage and travel. I LOVE the cushion puff. It’s the perfect density and distributes the product evenly and blends all my liquid/cream products beautifully.

Size and value wise, there is 13g or 0.46oz of product and it sells for $38 on Amazon. I've been using it daily for 2 weeks and it seems to be more than 50% gone. Hmph.

Now we get into the product itself! There is only one shade available, which is #23. I’m closer to NC25 right now since it’s summer and it matches quite well. The finish is glowy and freaking beautiful. I don’t want to call it dewy because it’s not THAT shiny. If you have enlarged pores or textured acne scars, you should beware that this offers just the slightest blurring effect. It will not camouflage ice pick or boxcar scars. Depending on what you use before and after this cushion, your pores could look more exaggerated. I’ll get into that in a bit. Coverage is medium to full so you will look flawless! It looks like the best version of my skin minus the scars (damn them!). I also love how good my skin looks after removing this cushion- not irritated and no filaments/clogged pores/pimples. It looks… comfortable! Almost like I just used skincare, which funny enough this claims to be just that.

This was taken when I got home from work. Oil is coming through and some creasing around the nose. No touchups were done so this was way better than expected. Unedited photo.

When this cushion was worn alone (no primers/sunscreen/setting powder), I noticed some creasing around the sides of my nose after 4 hours of wear. Aside from that, it looked really nice! This might sound weird, but it seemed like the cushion worked with the oils in my skin so I didn't look overly greasy- just glowy/dewy. Surprisingly, it didn’t crease under the eyes or in my smile lines. Total wear time about 6 hours before it started to get patchy around my chin .

When this cushion was worn on top of my Missha oil controlling sunscreen, it looked great at first! My problem with this was I could actually see the oil getting trapped later in the day. You know when you’re using a clay mask and leave it on long enough where you can see little dots of oil come through? It looked just like that!

When this cushion was set with powder, my skin looked slightly older with all my pores and texture more pronounced. When oil broke though I could literally see the tiny streaks coming out from my pores. Gross.

When this cushion was worn with a layer of setting powder underneath, it exaggerated my pores quite severely and made my skin look aged. The cushion no longer felt lightweight, and became thick and uncomfortable.

When this cushion was paired with the J.One Jelly Pack, I was disappointed to see that it had no effect. Zero. Zilch. It worked wonderfully with my IOPE cushion... :(

Finally, I tried wearing a Smashbox primer under this cushion. I thought it would create a smoother canvas for the cushion, but oddly enough it didn’t do anything.

After all sorts of experimentation with the A+ cushion, the best way to wear this seems to be on it’s own. It has SPF50 PA+++ so you’re well protected from the sun’s rays! Just prep your skin as usual and you can do your sunscreen and makeup all in one go.

Dare I say I have actually found a cushion that I love? I think I do! I love that the A+ cushion is simple to use and works best on it’s own. I’ve been trying to use less products and this does just that. It is pricey and seems to get used up rather quickly, but my skin likes this so I can justify the cost. If you have sensitive, acne, combo-oily skin, I highly recommend this! If you've tried this or any other Troiareuke products, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
