Klairs Vitamin E Mask Review
Annyeong chingu! Hi Friends! It’s officially fall! As much as I love this season, it also sucks how dry everything gets. It’s time to bring out all the dry weather facial products into rotation! This time around I have something new to add! Welcome, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask*! Read on for my review.
What It Is
This is a jello/custard like mask packed with anti-aging, skin soothing, healing, and hydrating ingredients. It’s supposed to rapidly brighten, whiten, and firm up the skin. You can use it alone as a leave on mask or moisturizer, or mixed with other skincare of your choice. But, its soul mate (which is also my bff) is the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drops! It comes in a nice plastic jar with 90ml of product for $21.60. You can find it here.
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, arrageenan, Gellan Gum, Betaine, Algin, Mannan, Ceramide NP, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Chlorphenesin, Arginine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Centella Asiatica Extract, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Salicornia Herbacea Extract, Phragmites Communis Extract, Adenosine, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil
The key ingredients here are Vitamin E, Niacinamide, and Adenosine. Vitamin E softens and soothes the skin, protects skin from damaging UV rays, and strengthens skin barrier. Niacinamide reduces pigmentation, helps fight acne and oily skin, enhances vitamin c, and reduces pigmentation. Adenosine stimulates collagen, fights wrinkles and acne, and decreases inflammation. I ran the ingredients through COSDNA and the only thing that might be of concern is Algin. It got a 4/5 for acne and irritant, which means you could be more prone to breakouts and irritation. Everything else was pretty insignificant.
I’ve been using this mask on and off for 2 weeks now and to be honest, I’m not sure how I feel about it. I love the texture- it reminds me of flan and jello. It’s jiggly and bounces back when you touch it. After you scoop some out, it just settles itself somehow and the surface is all smooth again. This has to be the most fun product I have! It has a light citrus scent, which is quite pleasant. It’s also super hydrating and I love how moisturized my skin feels. BUT, I’ve been breaking out.
I have kind of a unique scenario here. My skin hasn’t completely rid itself of the aftermath of shingles blisters so I’ve got sensitivity issues. The weather has been changing and my body is prone to react with it. I’ve been trying to figure out what has been making me break out and the evidence is pointing me towards environmental and hormonal factors, but I can’t be 100% certain just yet. Maybe it’s the algin?! There were some days I used this mask and woke up with no problems and some days I woke up with new zits. I even had Kevin try this out a couple times and he had no reactions.
I did try this on it’s own and mixed with the Vitamin C Drops, and my skin definitely looked brighter with the latter combination!
This mask is definitely hydrating and brightening, BUT I cannot say for sure it is good for acne prone skin. I need more time to test this mask out to determine what is causing my skin to break out. I’ll update this in another two weeks so please come back!
It's 10/10/17 and I'm here to update the results of this Klairs Vitamin E Mask! I stopped using this mask to let my skin settle down and once everything was back to normal I resumed testing it. I stick to what I said before about it being hydrating and brightening, and I can confirm that it does not cause breakouts. I wouldn't say it's a must have product, but it's fun to use and nice to have when you're feeling dry.
Here are some great deals if you want to purchase the Vitamin E Mask or try other Klairs products:
*I received this product from Wishtrend for testing and reviewing purposes only. I was not paid nor will I be getting paid for my review so you can trust this is my honest opinion.
