Available via Wishtrend

Welcome, 2018! I have to admit it was so hard to get back into blogging and posting on Instagram since it was the holidays. But, the new year calls for a fresh start so here we go! As someone who suffers from very reactive skin, I’m always on the lookout for products that soothe and improve. When Wishtrend came out with the *TECA 1% Barrier Cream with claims to strengthen and heal the skin I had to try it!

Heal & Repair

What It Is

The TECA 1% Barrier Cream is a formula that ‘creates a protective layer to keep moisture and active ingredients within the skin while strengthening, calming, and improving the skin’s overall health. Centella Asiatica (Asiaticoside, asiactic acid, madecassic acid) regenerates the skin and helps restore damaged/weakened skin barrier.’ It also claims to prevent acne scars, lighten pigmentation, and heal popped pimples quicker. Wishtrend is currently selling this product for $27.50.

How to Use

Apply to affected areas as the last step in your skin care routine.

Ingredient Analysis

Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Ethyl Hexanediol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid, Asiatic Acid, Tromethamine, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Caprylate, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA

The power players here are Centella Asiatica Extract (Asiaticoside, Asiactic Acid, Madecassic Acid) and Allantoin.

Centella Asiatica, you have been getting around! This ingredient has been in many of the products I used, and for good reason. It is rich in flavonoids, amino acids, and more! Traditionally used in Chinese and Indian medicine, modern day uses in skincare treat inflammation, heal wounds (aka popped pimples), moisturize, and repair.

Allantoin is the ingredient you need to soothe and heal your skin. It is high in moisture and has properties that heal wounds/irritations.

The TECA cream is an unscented (yay!) cream with a silicon-like texture that feels thick, but applies smooth. It’s similar to a silicon foundation primer, but softer and not as velvety. You can feel the moisture sink into the skin while the silicon creates a protective layer.

  • On small zits: 50% of the time it helped to heal them quicker, 50% of the time it didn’t.

  • On larger pimples: No difference.

  • On lacerations (yes, a screwdriver to my face): Marking and scarring still occurred.

  • On thinned/irritated skin: 100% excellent!

I didn’t notice any significant results in terms of wound healing and scar prevention; however, I must credit this cream for its ability to repair and strengthen the thin skin around my nose. That area is extremely sensitive and for a while I was constantly getting little pustules, which I figured out was due to thinning skin and having zero barrier. I applied the TECA cream and by the following morning I noticed a significant improvement! I continued to use it nightly until my skin returned to normal. Now, when my skin is starting to feel a little sensitive, a little dab of this and I’m good to go!

I was really hoping for this cream to work well on pimples so I’m disappointed that it didn’t. But, I am very happy that its claim to repair skin barrier worked for me! Have you tried this or something similar?
