February 2018 Favorites + Empties
It has been really cold in the bay the past few weeks so I've been spending lots of time cuddled up on the couch with the doggies. I guess it's winter trying to get in as much cold as possible before spring hops in. Since we’re in March already it’s time to recap February’s favorites and empties!
Troiareuke ACSEN U.V Protector Essence
I’m working on the review for this sunscreen, but I was loving it so much I wanted to include it in this favorites post first! This sunscreen has the most lovely texture. It’s watery, non-greasy, lightweight, and absorbs so easily into the skin. It works wonderfully under makeup as well!
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
I finally decided to try Glossier’s infamous Jelly Cleanser, and I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I actually really like how it feels when you rub it onto your skin. The texture is like a really thick gel (hence the ‘jelly’ name) that creates the perfect barrier for facial massaging. It rinses off with zero residue and your skin feels just right- not dried out, but not unwashed either. I always like to test facial cleansers on my glasses to see if they leave anything behind (try this if you’re curious!), and I’m happy to report that my glasses were sparkly clean after!
3CE Mood Recipe Matte Lipstick + Blush
I just put up my review of the 3CE Mood Recipe collection here so check it out if you want to see the other shades I got. I’m a neutrals girl so this collection has been my favorite go-to! The colors are just so beautiful and flattering!
Granhand Marine Orchid
When we stayed in Bukchon, I wandered into Granhand and fell in love with their scents. They have a collection of fragrances in different forms for you to try out- satchels, candles, oils, sprays, etc. I loved Marine Orchid so much I got it in this multi-use spray and in oil form. It’s a clean, but romantic smell. Does that make sense?
This might seem silly, but this brush mat literally saved me from my most dreaded responsibility- cleaning makeup brushes. Cleaning brushes is an unpleasant chore that used to take up so much time because I’d wash them one by one. This mat cuts my cleaning time in half. I can clean all my small brushes at the same time- just swirl them around the mat and rinse! The bigger brushes still need to be cleaned individually, but the ability to cluster the smaller brushes together has been a total lifesaver!
Sony A6300 Camera
So Kevin got himself a new toy, which has slowly become my toy. Shhh! I didn’t say that! I normally use my Nikon D750 and it’s pretty hefty camera to work with. This Sony camera was like a breath of fresh air with its compact size and professional image quality. I mean, going from a 3lb camera to an 18oz camera was AMAZING. You know that feeling when you do a drop weight while working out? IT FEELS SO NICE! It has lovely image quality, gorgeous colors, and the app works so much better than Nikon’s.
I’m Not a Robot
Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Romance, and Comedy- this show was so enjoyable! And, they even filmed at the same café that Kevin and I visited!
I grew up watching and reading the Journey to the West so I was so surprised this show was a spinoff on it! If you love fairy tales then this will be a fun watch!
I totally forgot to mention this in December when I was watching it, but Heart Signal is SO GOOD! It’s like Terrace House on Netflix, but 100x better. I even got Kevin hooked on it!
I watched a couple episodes of Running Man over the years, but never really got into it until recently. Now I’m like “why didn’t I watch this earlier?!” I laugh so hard all the time and it’s just a great stress reliever to watch all the silliness.
Shiseido Facial Cotton
I never used Asian cotton pads like these until recently, and now I can see why they’re so loved. I’m never going back to cotton balls again! Now I’m just going to have to buy all the different cotton pads to figure out which ones I like!
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water
I picked this up on a whim, and it just can’t compare to Bioderma. I don’t think it removes makeup very well so I would not recommend.
Too Cool For School Egg Mousse Body Oil
I got this during my first trip to Korea when Kevin and I were unprepared for just how dry the weather was. Kind of gross how long it took us to finish it, but honestly I just forgot about it until recently! I wouldn't recommend this though- it's a bit too much for Cali weather.
Erborian Ginseng Milk
I reviewed this a while back and it wasn’t exactly a must have then, and I still feel the same way. I ended up just using it as a body moisturizer.
Missha Time Revolution Night Repair
This was a repurchase since I was testing the reformulation, but I was not wow’ed. The review is here if you’d like to read it.
Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum
I sort of reviewed this product last year when I first started blogging, and I still think it’s not worth it. It’s so expensive and the results aren’t impressive enough to justify the cost. I stopped using it after a few months and I recently finished it off by just applying it to my back and chest.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
I seem to always have samples of this! I might have said this last time, but I’ll say it again. These sample sizes seemed to work better than their full sized counter parts. That or they reformulated in the last 4 years, but I haven’t heard anything about it.
Jayjun Anti-Dust Therapy/Whitening Mask
I reviewed the Whitening mask recently and will be working on this Therapy one soon! Long story short, I prefer the Therapy mask over the Whitening mask.
Leaders Himalyan Camellia Pore Minimizing Mask
This sheet mask was not my favorite. It was a cellulose type mask, which I normally find fun to use, but this one was so heavy and it kept slipping off my face. The results were unexciting so I would not repurchase or recommend.
Mediheal I.P.I Lightmax Ampoule Mask
This sheet mask is packed with vitamin c to brighten up your skin. Does it actually brighten? You bet! I’ll work on a review for this since I bought a ten pack.
Su:m 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick
My beloved cleanser! You’re sold out everywhere! Literally! I searched for you when I was in Korea and you were sold out then. You’re still sold out now! :(
As fast as February went by, I did have quite a list of products to talk about! Have you tried any of the things I mentioned? What did you enjoy last month?
