Get Rid Of Bacne ft. Klairs Manuka Honey & Choco Body Soap
I’m embarrassed to say that I still get bacne/back acne/body acne from time to time. I don’t treat the skin on my body as well as the skin on my face, which I’ve realized is a mistake. Since warm weather is coming around soon, I want to make sure my body is spot free so I can wear my summer clothes with confidence. I picked up the Klairs Manuka Honey & Choco Body Soap when I was shopping in A-Land in hopes that it would be an easy way to get rid of bacne. Let’s see if this bacne wash works!
What It Is
The Klairs Manuka Honey & Choco Body Soap is a bar soap meant for clearing any blemishes on the body. It contains Tartaric Acid (AHA) to exfoliate dead skin cells and control blemishes. This soap comes in a 120g square bar and sells for roughly $11.
Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Coconut Oil, Tartaric acid, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter, Manuka Honey, Avocado oil, Colloidal oatmeal, D-Alpha Tocopheroal, Cocoa Seed Extract, Cocoa perfume
Without looking too hard at the list you get the sense that this soap seems more like a moisturizing soap than one meant for bacne. There are so many oils and butter that looks like it belongs in a body lotion! The only active ingredient for fighting those pesky pimples is Tartaric Acid, which is an AHA. No harmful ingredients were found; however, Coconut Oil and Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter are potentially comedogenic so beware.
This soap actually works! I used it daily for 2 weeks and noticed a dramatic improvement. I had less redness, existing blemishes disappeared, and no new blemishes formed. Yay! The key is consistency to see visible results. There is added fragrance, but it’s barely there and it’s on the body. It has the faintest smell of chocolate when you lather, but otherwise it’s like any regular bar of soap.
The one thing that I do not like is how easily it melts. I left mine on my shower rack and it went down half a size quicker than I expected. Realistically I have been using it since March so I suppose it’s reasonable, but it won’t last as long as something like a Dove body soap.
Another point to add is you might need to follow up with something stronger if you have very active, persistent bacne. After showering, I’ll use either my COSRX Blackhead Power Liquid or Paula’s Choice Liquid BHA as a stronger treatment if I need it.
This soap is a great first step in treating bacne! Tank tops, bathing suits, and off the shoulder outfits, I’m ready for you!
