Glossier's Milky Jelly Cleanser for Sensitive Acne Skin Types | Review

If you know me or frequent my blog, then you’ll know that I always say my number one cleanser is the rose stick cleanser from SU:M 37. Since they’ve discontinued it, I’ve been on the hunt for a new cleanser!  I won’t say that I found a replacement, but the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser is pretty darn good.

What It Is

Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser is a sulfate-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free face cleanser with the most interesting texture. It’s like a creamy gel that feels so amazing when massaged onto the skin. Hence the “milky jelly” name. It can be used on dry skin to remove makeup (not waterproof types) or on wet skin as a regular cleanser. This formula has 5 skin conditioners so you’ll never feel stripped, and the cleaning agents in this cleanser are found in contact lens solutions so it’s safe and gentle on the eyes!

Ingredient Analysis

Water/Aqua/Eau, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Propanediol, Isohexadecane, Poloxamer 184, Acrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, Xylitylglucoside, Betaine, Allantoin, Glycerin, Panthenol, Symphytum Officinale Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Anhydroxylitol, Polysorbate 80, Xylitol, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Isopropyl Myristate, Benzoic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide

Allantoinand and Symphytum Officinale Root Extractwork work as anti-inflammatory agents. Xylitylglucoside prevents water loss, Anhydroxylitol helps skin absorb and retain moisture, and Rosa Damascena Flower Water gives some fragrance while conditioning the skin.

No significantly harmful ingredients found; however, Isopropyl Myristate is a comedogenic ingredient. It’s up to the individual user if this will affect you or not.

Results

I have very sensitive skin that is also prone to breakouts so finding a good cleanser is tricky.  With the first few tries, my skin freaked out a little so I didn’t think this cleanser would work for me, but the more I used it the more I liked it. As described, this cleanser is really gentle and cleanses my skin thoroughly without leaving it feeling tight or dry. I love the jelly texture and how thick it feels when applied to the face. It’s the perfect consistency for doing facial massages and oh so satisfying! It’s also kind of addicting… For reference, it is thicker than Cetaphil. Fragrance wise, it smells very faintly of rose, but for the most part it just smells like your typical fragrance-free cleanser.

Although it claims to work as a makeup remover, I still double cleanse to make sure there’s nothing left behind. I did my residue test by cleaning my smudged up glasses with this cleanser and it was perfect! My lenses were smooth and crystal clear.

This cleanser is great for all skin types, but if you like the feeling of being squeaky clean or you like your cleanser to have some bubbles then this is not for you. I don’t really have any bad things to say and it’s definitely worth trying!

Conclusion

This is a good, gentle, effective cleanser. Go get it! :)
